Our Lady Of Light Historic Foundation
Our Mission
Our Lady of Light Historic Foundation was formed for the purpose of holding title to the historic Our Lady of Light Church in Lamy, New Mexico, to restore and preserve the building as a historic site, and to use the building for the benefit of the members of the Lamy community as a community center in keeping with the dignity and sacred nature of the structure.
The Restoration
Our Lady of Light was constructed nearly 100 years ago in 1926 and many cosmetic and structural repairs are currently needed to preserve this historic building in Lamy. Our board has met with Cornerstones, a local nonprofit helping communities restore and preserve historic structures, to assist with this restoration project. We’ll soon be sharing their plan, as well as the budget to implement it, and we’re also presently looking into various grants to fund the project. If you’re interested in making a donation to help with our restoration project, we would greatly appreciate your generosity.
We are currently undergoing structural repairs to the bell tower to support it for further restoration.
